Boston Celtics Sponsor John Dowd

CHICOPEE, MA - In what may be a first of its kind sponsorship procurement, JYD Promotions, team owner for the John Dowd race team, officially announced its newest major sponsor - the Boston Celtics.

It shows tremendous support that the most successful franchise in professional sports history has decided to sponsor another New England sports team, and one as different to basketball as motocross.  “I am from Massachusetts and have always been a fan of Boston sports teams.  I am honored that such a great franchise is part of my team, and I look forward to working with the Boston Celtics on cross-promotions,” said John Dowd, co-owner of JYD Promotions.  Celtics chairman Paul Gaston, a former motocross racer himself, added, “We are proud to be associated with John and KTM, and we hope the relationship will help to broaden the fan base in each of our sports.”

The Celtics sponsorship, centered on the Celtics’ New England home market, has been in place since Daytona in March, when John sported the famous “winking leprechaun” on his KTM 125, his helmet and his chest protector.  That logo, which symbolizes a tradition of excellence and success, is now prominently located on the Cernics/KTM team truck, and will be on all team uniforms for the 2002 AMA outdoor nationals series.

JYD Promotions also announces its 2002 AMA outdoor national series lineup:  John Dowd (#16) will once again ride the KTM 520SX, and will be joined by New England’s Keith Johnson (#38), who will also ride a KTM 520SX.

The Boston Celtics were established in 1946 and proudly hold 16 NBA championship titles.
